Time Standing Still

When I came upon this old stone and wood barn sitting not far from the road, I was taken by how those tall tree trunks seemed to stand protectively around an old friend, as if guarding it from the passing of modern life which was creeping in all around it. It's a bit like time standing still.

Eco-Friendly Finds

I live in the rural northern section of Lancaster County, PA., but a mere 25 to 35 minute drive headed south, takes me into Lancaster City. And where I may be a rural lovin' gal now, this city is a place near and dear to my heart as it was once my home for a good number of years, and where my husband and I purchased our first home and started our family.

Lancaster City is a cool place. Besides being home to the oldest continually operating farmer's market in the USA, (A true national treasure in my book) it's also filled with lots of great little shops, restaurants and wonderful art galleries. (If you have any doubts just visit the city one evening during a First Friday event, held the first friday of every month. You will love it.)

On one of my a recent treks there, I came across a delightful new shop, The Fresco Eco-Lifestyle Store where I was able to purchase these beautiful glass containers, (one for laundry detergent and one for hand soap) and fill them up right there at their nifty-difty refill station, where they also sell containers for their eco-friendly dish detergent, (which I plan on getting next time) as well as their eco-friendly bath and body products such as shampoo and conditioner.

I think it's a simply lovely idea.

Car and Carriage Quilt

"Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

This improvised Car and Carriage Quilt, which I have titled "Crossroads" was inspired by my observations of the horse and buggy way of travel, which is a common sight in my neck of the woods.

On chilly days I see the occupants smartly covered in a warm blanket draped across their laps, and it reminded me of how practical and cozy it is to keep a small and easily portable quilt in one's vehicle...

Featuring a main background of sturdy, unbleached woven cotton fabric, along with 5 other beautiful woven fabrics and one sweet flowered print, this 100% cotton quilt has a good solid weight to it.

Measuring 37" x 46", this quilted throw has been made with use in mind. Throughly machine quilted, to help insure a long and beautiful life, it's completely machine washable and machine dryable.

Perfect for keeping your little one snugly. Super for draping over your own lap during outdoor events such as auctions and sports games. Just right for laying on the ground for the kids to play on or for a lovely little picnic when the mood strikes.

More information on this quilt can be found here.
